AUDITION INFORMATION:

All are welcome to audition for the production of Finding Wonder. We are casting 9 roles for this immersive theatre production. This is an outdoor production and will be a very unique experience for all involved, as we create a giant flower garden world and the characters that live within it. Character Breakdowns and Auditions Requirements:

Blue bird: a woman between 18-26, a versatile performer. Triple threat. (dance, sing, act) This character is derived from the ugly ducking. Audition requirements: 1 minute contemporary comedic monologue and 30-45 second song. Compensation: $98 Flat Rate.

Thumbelina: a petite woman between 18-24, who can sing and act. Character is vivacious and filled with curiosity. Audition requirements: 1 minute contemporary comedic monologue and 30-45 second song. Compensation: $98 Flat Rate.

Alphie (Rose Elf): a short man between 18-24, who can sing and act. Character develops throughout the show, goes from cynical to optimistic after making a friend. Audition requirements: 1 minute contemporary comedic monologue and 30-45 second song. Compensation: $98 Flat Rate.

Spindy (Spider): a woman between 22-32; character actor. Character has a spit fire personality, with lots of wit. Audition requirements: 1-2 minute contemporary comedic monologue. Compensation: $98 Flat Rate.

Emperor Timothy Toadsworth (Toad): a man between 22-32; character actor. Character is full of himself, spider helps keep him grounded. Audition requirements: 1-2 minute contemporary comedic monologue. Compensation: $98 Flat Rate.

Soldier: a man between 18-26; dancer. Character silently falls in love with ballerina. Audition requirements: Please sign up for the dance auditions. Compensation: $98 Flat Rate.

Ballerina: a woman between 18-26; dancer. Character silently falls in love with soldier. Audition requirements: Please sign up for the dance auditions. Compensation: $98 Flat Rate.

Voice of man: a male voice actor, between 30-45. Voice will be recorded, no live performances. Character has lost touch with childhood wonder, his daughter (voice of child) helps him find that wonder again. Audition requirements: 1-2 minute contemporary comedic monologue. Voice of child: a young girl, between 4-11 years old. Voice will be recorded, no live performances. Character is filled with wonder, she wants her father to see the beauty that she sees. Rehearsal & Performance Schedule:

Rehearsals: 8/14/19 - 9/27/19; Every Monday, Wednesday & Thursday from 6pm - 9pm in Santa Clarita. (No rehearsals on 9/2 & 9/19).

Tech Week: 9/28/19 - 10/2/19; 10am - 6pm in Santa Clarita.

Dress Rehearsal: 10/3/19; 10am - 6pm in Santa Clarita.

Filmed Performance & Private Viewing: 10/4/19; 10am - 6pm in Santa Clarita.

Performances: 10/5/19 & 10/6/19 10am - 6pm in Santa Clarita.


About the Show:

An original play written by Natasha Rabin and inspired by the works of Hans Christian Andersen. Debuting this Fall at CalArts’s Tournament Valley in Santa Clarita, CA. Follow Thumbelina and The Rose Elf through a giant flower garden, built by the artist community of the Santa Clarita Valley! Experience what it feels like to be the size of a bug in a giant flower garden! This is an immersive show with NO SEATS! The actors do not interact with the audience, they will perform and exist in the giant flower garden world while the audience observes them. The runtime of the show is about 30 minutes.
